The 2011 Governor General’s Literary Awards

October 11, 2011

The Governor General’s Literary Award Finalists have been announced. The GG’s are also celebrating 75 years of the awards and therefore, 75 years of great reading!

Who are your favourites on this list? You can also head to their Facebook Page and tell them what your Three Favourite GG Reads are, or find out which Prominent Canadians have chosen as their picks, or find out what GG reads have made it to the big screen. These last two can be found on their site.

Here are the Fiction finalists: http://987321654.canadacouncil.net/en/archive/2011/Finalists.aspx

You may notice similarities between the Man Booker and the Giller…will Esi Edugyan make a clean sweep with Half Blood Blues? Reviews are quite stellar for it and I’ve just read another fantastic review of it this weekend with his announcement of “We have ourselves a winner” (referring to the Man Booker Prize).

(Canadian version)

(US Version) Why does the US always get the prettier covers?

Have you read Half Blood Blues yet? Based on the reviews I’ve read, I better jump on the bandwagon and pick a copy up before anything is announced!

the US cover reminds me of the book you are reading Liz (The Time In Between)
